Course Outline

However experienced in their own areas, staff appointed to perform roles on Programme Boards may be less sure of how to be effective as a member of a Programme Board. This course, run as a half-day workshop, provides Board Members with an understanding of the principles of both Programme and Project Management (based on the MSP® and PRINCE® methodologies). It also equips them with the necessary terminology and concepts required to operate effectively. It familiarises them with the Programme and Project decision-making processes and will show them how to maintain control and momentum in the right direction, with the least amount bureaucracy.

Course Objectives

This course will enable participants to:

  • Understand the differences between Programmes and Projects
  • Describe the Programme and Project lifecycle
  • Identify different types of Programme
  • Review and approve the Business Case for the Programme
  • Provide a framework for senior staff to be involved with the direction of the change process
  • Understand responsibilities and accountabilities related to their pivotal position in steering the Programme
  • Align Programmes and Projects with the overall business strategy of the organisation.

Who Will Benefit?

This course is aimed at managers who have been, or are about to be, appointed to a Programme Board. There is no requirement to have any previous knowledge or experience of either Programme or Project Management, or MSP® or PRINCE2®.
